Carnegie Institution of Washington NAI Lead team
The astrobiology consortium led by the Carnegie Institution of Washington primarily studies the physical, chemical, and biological evolution of hydrothermal systems. Research areas include vent complexes associated with ocean ridges, deep aquifers, and other subsurface aqueous environments, both on Earth as well as on other solar system and extrasolar bodies.

NASA Astrobiology Institute
NASA Astrobiology Institute carries out collaborative research and education in astrobiology, the interdisciplinary science that seeks answers to these fundamental questions. It supports investigation of these issues on Earth and serves as a portal to space for the scientific community.

Mars Life Detection
Mars Life Detection focuses on the physics and chemistry of life, using a variety of imaging methods over many spatial scales, and a variety of chemical methods that measure many different chemical parameters at many spatial scales. Coupled with these methods is the search within the images and within the chemistry for complexity and information.

NASA Mars Exploration
Conditions on Mars vary wildly from what we know on our own planet. NASA Mars Exploration is dedicated to answering questions regarding possible life on Mars by observing features like dry riverbeds, ice in the polar caps and rock types on the red planet.
